Widdersberg 2.327 m

A varied walk up Widdersberg 2,327m with great views of Herzlteich lake.

Option 1: Start Hoadl via Hochtennbodensteig

Take the new Hoadlbahn cable car to the Hoadl sunny plateau at 2,340 m, then turn left and follow the Ladies' descent down to the Hoadlsattel, then follow the path to the left (see signposts) and ascend for about 110 m to the Hochtennboden. Then follow the Hochtennboden path downhill - with great views of the Herzlteich pond - and a short climb to the Widdersbergsattel (2,262 m). It is another 10 minutes to the Widdersberg summit (2,327 m).

After a break on the summit, you can either return by the same route or walk down to the Herzlteich pond and follow the new Herzlteich path to the middle station of the new Hoadlbahn cable car. From there you can take the comfortable gondola back down to the valley.

Option 2: Start Hoadlbahn middle station

Take the new Hoadlbahn lift to the middle station at 1,981m. From there take the new, wide Herzlteichweg path to the reservoir. To the left of the reservoir is a path to the Widdersberg saddle and on to the summit cross. Descend by the same route as the ascent or continue to the Hoadl-Haus (via the gravel road - Ladies' descent or via the Hochtennboden path). From the top station take the cable car back to the car park.

Option 3: Start Hoadl-Haus via Damenabfahrt & Dohlennest

From the top of Hoadl at 2,340m, a wide gravel road leads down to Dohlennest at about 2,100m. Just above the Dohlennest is the Herzlteich pond.

Option 4: Start car park via Damenabfahrt in the direction of Hoadl

Start from the Axamer Lizum car park (1,560 m), past the Olympia lift valley station towards Hoadl via the Ladies' descent, either on the wide gravel road to the left or the path to the right of the stream (start behind Hotel Lizumerhof). Pass the chapel and continue uphill until you reach the wide gravel road again. Just below the Dohlennest, turn left (see signpost) towards the Widdersbergsattel (2,262 m). Follow the path to the left of the Herzlteich pond up to the Widdersbergsattel and continue for another 10 minutes to the Widdersberg summit (2,327 m).

Walking time: 1.5 - 2 hours to the summit, distance approx. 3.8 km, approx. 755 m ascent.

Descent as ascent.
